Dr. Khaled El Hossan DVM

Dr.Khaled Dr .Khaled El Hossan is an Egyptian Canadian Veterinarian with over 25 years of experience in the small animal medicine. He started his career as a small animal veterinarian in Muscat, Oman and then immigrated to Canada and took many courses at University of Guelph, Canada and some hospitals in USA, Germany and South Africa. He has been considering starting a practice in Doha for four years before the actual opening of the practice, as he has seen lots of pets relocating from Muscat to Doha.

He started visiting Doha on a regular basis, and realized that there was not a single professional veterinary practice in Doha and yet there was a huge demand. After a full year of trips back and forth The Veterinary Surgery was born in February 2005. He made several trips to USA, Germany and Canada to ensure that the clinic has the most up-to- date equipment. Currently The Veterinary Surgery is a four Veterinarian practice with vets from all over the globe with international experience from countries like Italy, South Africa, New Zealand and Canada. Our aim is to offer first class service to all the Pets of Doha and to offer all possible care to keep them healthy and happy. Dr. Khaled still runs two other Veterinary practices, one in Muscat (The Private Veterinary Hospital) and one in Cairo (Vets 4 Pets).

Dr.Carmen

Dr-Carmen Dr. Carmen Ali is joining us from Sydney, Australia, where she graduated from the University of Sydney in 1996. She has extensive experience in small animal medicine and enjoys all aspects of it, in particular skin and hormonal cases. She worked at highly reputable, well established and well equipped hospitals in Sydney. She is currently undertaking a Masters in veterinary clinical studies.

She has a keen interest in vet- client relations and she feels passionate about educating clients on their pets’ health issues with a caring, compassionate and highly individualised approach. Dr. Carmen is joined in Doha by her husband and young family of two active boys who keep her busy when she is not at the clinic.

In her spare time, if any! , Dr. Carmen enjoys ancient history with a keen interest in Middle Eastern cultures, Islamic art and history, and Agatha Christie mysteries.

Dr. Philippa Spellman

Dr-Philippa Dr. Philippa Spellman is an experienced Veterinarian who has recently joined us from New Zealand. She graduated from Massey University in New Zealand 15 years ago. Since graduating she has worked in New Zealand and the U.K. in a variety of clinics. Philippa has worked for 12 years at Emergency & Critical Care clinics in London and in Auckland and has also worked at daytime clinics where she has gained vast experience with orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

Philippa grew up in New Zealand on a farm and has many pets. When she is not at work she likes to run, travel and watch the All Blacks (especially when they are winning!).

Dr. Marzanne Burger

Dr-Marzanne-Burger Dr.Marzanne was born in South Africa and has grown up with her parents on the farm in the Western Cape area. Her great grandparents immigrated from Holland, Germany, Ireland and England. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. After graduation she worked in the UK for 2 years with both production animals and pets. Then she immigrated to New Zealand where she worked in 100% small animal practices for 8 years before moving to Doha 2 years ago.

From birth, her life was surrounded by animals. During school years she had a keen interest in horses and competed in endurance racing. Academically her favourite subjects at school were Science, maths and biology. Her love for animals and science were the perfect combination and convinced her that Veterinary science was the profession she would perfectly fit in.

Now he has a particular interest in orthopedic surgery. He has been an associate, partner and owner of veterinary practices. Having travelled widely throughout the world, he enjoys seeing new places and learning about different cultures.

Dr.Samad Khan

Dr-Samad-Khan Dr. Samad Khan is a Canadian Veterinarian with over 15 years of experience in small animal practice.

He has done lots of locum work at various hospitals in Ontario, Canada and brings his experiences to share with our team.

His interests include internal medicine with special focus on cardiology.

He is licensed to practice both in USA and Canada .He has attended conferences on regular basis to keep him updated such as Ontario Veterinary Medical Association conference , North American Veterinary conference, Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine, American Animal Hospital, Central Veterinary Conference, American Veterinary Medical Association , American Association of Feline Practitioners , Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, Atlantic Coast Veterinary Conference When he is not working he like to read and spend time in Gym or walk on the Corniche. His family includes his wife, 3 girls and 2 cats Sunny and Gizmo.

Hani

Hani Hani has got a degree in accounting, he takes care of all accounting and administration. Hani also leads the team of supporting staff & he takes care of all our government related work i.e. renewal of our license, staff visas, permits etc.

Mohammed

Mohammed Mohamed is the 24/7, on site Vet Assistant that is always a familiar face to our clients and their pets. He assists the veterinarians with everything from nail clipping to regulating anesthesia throughout intense surgical situations.

He will always greet you with a smile and take care of your pet as if it were his own.

Vilma

Vilma Vilma is part of the team, she is doing the grooming job plus she is responsible of the kennels and she is an animal lover, Vilma knows how to treat the pets, she feed them, take dogs for a walk.
